Obituary for Frank Brent Buxton

Frank Brent Buxton
Frank Buxton
May 11th, 1958 - August 3rd, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Frank Brent Buxton announces his passing at the age of 60, on August 3, 2018. Frank will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 40 years Debbie; their three children Heather, Brad, and Russell; and his two brothers, Bert and Rob. Frank was pre-deceased by his parents; mother Myrtle “Pat” (Langen) Buxton, and father Frank Buxton who passed a year ago almost to the day of his son.

Frank was born of a generation that took great pride in their vocation. He was dedicated to his work and felt it very much identified him. He worked at Bow Valley Square for 33 years working his way up to Chief Engineer. Frank was gifted not only with a great work ethic but was also mechanically minded, and handy around the house fixing up odds and ends including the family vehicles. He also spent much time on his lawn meticulously watering it, leaving behind only the straightest mowing strips and perfect trimming. His yard was the envy of the neighbourhood and likely many golf courses too.

Frank played as hard as he worked and was a passionate athlete. He actively fostered this love of sports with his children and took turns coaching each of them. He coached the boy’s baseball and hockey teams, and his daughter in softball. He played organized hockey since he was a teenager. He played in an old-timers league for years as a member of the “Raiders” and most recently for the “Flaming As”. Frank always wore the number 9 (and so did his daughter). Although he loved the game of hockey, he had a lifelong passion with the sport of golf, which started in his youth when he and his friends would hop over fences to secretly play endless free rounds. Monday nights were reserved for the Men’s Night at Blue Devil Golf Course; however, his wife was his usual partner. Despite all this time on the rinks and greens Frank also managed to train for and race in 3 marathons with his wife.

It is difficult to convey in a few short lines just how much Frank was loved and how deeply he will be missed, the indelible stamp he has left on the lives of those near and dear to him, and the void he leaves behind.

Celebration of Life will be held at Carnmoney Golf Club (44001 Dunbow Road East, DeWinton, Alberta T1S 4X7) on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Please join Frank's family for some food and drink (including cold cans of Canadian) to remember him.
