Obituary for James "Guy" Charles Evans

James "Guy" Charles Evans
Evans, James Guy Charles
May 24, 1936 – January 30, 2018

James Guy Charles Evans passed away on January 30, 2018 at the South Health Campus Hospital. Guy leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Karen, daughters Cara Johnson, Jennifer Evans (Kyle Grant), grandsons Cole, Quinn, Jesse, and their father Wayne Johnson.

Guy was born in Herne Bay, England May 24, 1936. He attended prep school as a young boy and boarding school in his teens at The King's School, Canterbury, England. He then began his many years of public service starting with the Royal Navy for 2 years, London Metropolitan Police for 5 years before moving to Canada in 1963. Guy joined the Calgary Police Service in 1967 where he stayed for 25 years before retiring as a Detective. Guy obtained a black belt in karate, loved sailing, loved to make (and drink!) beer and wine - he was a longtime member of the Heritage Wine Guild, and was a great story teller of his adventures and the history of the world. He was a member of St Mark's Lodge and volunteered at the Calgary International Airport as a White Hatter.

The family would like to thank the staff at the South Health Campus Rapid Access Unit for their amazing care over the last two weeks. A special thank you as well to Judy and Peter for their support during Guy's illness.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
