Tayah Almond (Gloria Schroter's Daughter)

Grandma was one of the most precious women I have ever known. She may have been 92 years old when she passed away but she was so youthful that I often referred to her as the “energizer bunny”. I remember going to Las Vegas with her and my mother (Gloria). One night when my mom and I were getting ready for bed we looked over at grandma and she had a glass of classy, white wine in one hand and an arm weight in the other. She was doing her exercises before bed. She always knew the key to life – balance. When grandma was 90, her and I went Stampeding at the National Music Centre and the number of cowboys that asked her to dance was impressive but not surprising. Of course she giggled and politely declined each and every offer that came her way, but she sure left with a smile on her face and so did I. When my mom passed away (just about two years ago), grandma called my brother and I all the time to make sure we felt loved and cared for. The time I spent with grandma over the last two years allowed me to get to know her not just as a grandmother but as one of my dearest friends in life. I would always look forward to our weekly chats and get togethers where ice cream was guaranteed to be involved. The love she held in her heart for every family member and friend was truly inspiring. I’m a better woman for having known her and I will cherish my memories with her forever. Beautiful angel she is.
