With heartfelt sadness the family of Bela Bencsik announce his passing in Calgary on December 12, 2017. Bela left Hungary in 1957 and travelled to Canada where he met and married his sweetheart Rose. They were married for 56 years and together raised their five children, Anna (William), Leslie, Julie (Kevin), John, and James (Lisa). Bela worked as a carpenter on many of the buildings that are part of downtown Calgary today. Bela is survived by Rose and their children as well as grandchildren Melissa, Nick, Alex, Maddie, Zoli, Junuh, Mathiew, Alicia and members of the Lovasz family. He was predeceased by his siblings in Hungary as well his grandson Nathan in Calgary.

Bela was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and an exceptional dancer who loved fishing.

A brief tribute will precede Mass for Bela which will be celebrated at St Elizabeth of Hungary Parish (819-13 Ave SW) on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 1:30 pm.
