Dad

Dad, thank you for all the memories! The drives from Ottawa to Toronto on Friday nights, playing road trip games, eating snacks, telling stories. Then the sad drive home on Sundays when we knew it would be a few weeks till our next visit. Camping at Silver Lake, setting up the canvas tent, fishing on the lake in the morning. Cross country and down hill skiing at Blue Mountain and Horseshoe Valley. Then in the summer, trips to Wasaga beach to go swimming, I always imagined this must be what Florida is like. Our trips to Ontario Place, Blue Jay games at Exhibition Place, and then to Wonderland when it opened up. Wonderland was Carmen and my first roller coaster ride, it became tradition to start the day at the park with a ride on the big wooden roller coaster The Great Canadian Mind Buster. Later when Meagan and Amanda were little girls, Dad and Carolyn would come to Ottawa every summer to visit. I have many fond memories of the different cottages we stayed at, presents of the day for the girls, swimming and boating. The girls will always remember those summers! We had many great trips to Banff, soaking in the hot springs, skiing at Lake Louis, Johnston Canyon, and grabbing a bite in the Pubs. Dad you taught me how to BBQ the perfect steak, using a little oil, cutting slits and then putting in slices of garlic. How to play squash, you tried..to teach us tennis. To be patient, to save for tomorrow, to treat people how I wanted to be treated. I'm going to miss all the late night conversations, where we tried to solve all the world issues. Thank you for sharing your sayings: new beginner, no matter where you go there you are, what are you going to do, count your blessings, and thank you very much! Dad we are going to miss you very much, you will always be in our hearts and thoughts! Love always...Derek, Kelly, Meagan and Amanda
