Obituary for David Alexander Redfern

David Alexander Redfern
Redfern, David "Dave"
October 22, 1952 - August 21, 2017

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dave Redfern on August 21, 2017 at the age of 64. Dave grew up in the community of Altadore and graduated from Central Memorial. He worked for the City of Calgary Parks and Rec from 1977 until his retirement in 2012. He loved to listen to music of the Beatles era and was an avid collector of Beatles memorabilia. He delighted in adding to his extensive collection of stamps that he began in his youth. Dave bargain-hunted the flea markets and garage sales and knew all the vendors. He enjoyed travelling: backpacking around Europe in 1973 for 8 months, visiting his mother and step-father in Lagos Nigeria in 1978, and in his retirement going to Mexico, Hawaii, Las Vegas and Florida.

He is fondly remembered by his mother Dorothy (Watt) Edwards (Calgary), siblings Linda White (Calgary) and Don Redfern (Eleanor) (Mabel Lake BC); niece Laura (White) Anderson (Doug) and their children Avyn and Miles; nephews Todd White; Phillip Redfern (Christie) and their children Aaila and Lyla; and Anthony Redfern; as well as his best friend Betty Lou Beal. He was predeceased by his father Alexander Redfern and brother-in-law Joe White. Our deep gratitude to the caring staff at the Foothills Hospital ICU and Renal Unit.

A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at Westside King's Church (3939-69th Street SW) on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.ca).
