Charles “David” Vaskovics passed away on June 1, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. David is survived by his loving wife Sherry (nee: Winters) and his daughter Chelsea (Michael Derowin), his parents Frances and Richard Givens, two sisters Eva (Kevin) Boyle and Sharon Vaskovics, two brothers Daniel Vaskovics and David Givens, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Frank and Regina Laughlin. David worked as a machinist at IKO Industries for 36 years until his illness. As per David’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place. The family wishes to thank David’s best friend Dean Johnson for all his help and support during this time. Thanks also go out to Sherry’s sisters Maureen Buchanan and Cindy Mackay, as well as niece Tracy Buchanan for all their help in taking care of David physically. Thanks also to Dr. Tang and her staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and special thank you to Major Ash of the Salvation Army for being there in David’s final moments.
