Obituary for Darin Alan Swain

SWAIN, Darin Alan
Darin Alan Swain was born December 22, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While he grew up primarily in Fort McMurray and Calgary, he was truly a citizen of the world, living and traveling across the globe.

Though he was quite the handful from the beginning, he grew up loved by his mother and his siblings. Darin's mischievous ways matured into an accomplished athlete and while he was good at everything he tried, he especially loved snowboarding, skydiving, and scuba diving.

Darin graduated Bishop Grandin High school in 2002. He then attended SAIT and became a B Pressure Welder. He excelled on the job and combined his welding skills and creativity to do many projects for his home and loved ones.

Through the love from his family and support from friends, Darin grew into an amazing partner to his wife Kara. They met when Kara took scuba diving certification from Darin. Two years later, on January 26, 2019 they were married, continuing their fairy-tale romance as husband and wife.

Darin passed away from cancer on April 5, 2019. He was loyal, loving, fearless, generous, charismatic, and intelligent. Darin’s giving nature and the way he lived his life means that there is a little piece of Darin in everyone he met. This connection and the memories he gave are Darin’s legacy.

Darin is survived by his mother, Denise Swain; his brother, Adrian Swain; his half siblings, Melanie Hawes, Sherri Kropodra, Vickie Chaychuk, and Shanna Gibbs-Bastiaanssen; and his wife, Kara Irwin. Darin also leaves behind countless loving extended family and friends.
