Obituary for Paul Zarecki

Paul Zarecki
February 20, 1928 - Friday, October 5, 2018

Paul Zarecki passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the age of 90.

Paul was raised on a farm in Brightstone, near Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 and was stationed in Comox, Belgium, Germany, France and returned to Canada for his final posting in Cold Lake, Alberta. He was an aerial photographer and instructor in the RCAF and was always ready to tell stories of his adventures. Paul was extremely proud of his career. When he retired in 1978, Paul and his wife Velda opened a ceramic studio and started a successful business teaching and supporting other studios across western Canada.

Dad was an avid stamp, coin and pin collector. He also spent many hours in his wood workshop making special items for family and friends. Mum and Dad's love of animals was passed on to their children, as they all welcome numerous furry family members into their lives. During every visit or phone call he would always ask how the pets were.

Left to mourn Paul are his children Donna (Audrey) of Calgary, Lynn (Sheryll) of Saskatoon, and Glenn (Bobbi-Jo) Malahat; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Paul came from a large family and was predeceased by his wife Velda Zarecki in 2001, his parents Basil and Eva, and many siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff and Doctors at the George Boyack Care West in Calgary for their wonderful and compassionate care for Dad during his stay.

In keeping with Paul's wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted by The Air Force Museum Society of Alberta (4520 Crowchild Trail SW, Calgary, AB T2T 5W5 or an animal rescue society of your choice.
