Obituary for Denis Joseph Cooke

Denis Joseph Cooke
Denis Cooke
December 23, 1944 – August 24, 2018 (73 years)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Joseph Cooke after a long and brave battle with cancer. Denis passed peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Denis was a kind and loving father and the best grand-father whose sense of humor and love of life were evident to everyone he met. Denis was a generous and supportive man who helped his family in any way he could. He will be greatly missed.

Denis will be forever remembered by his wife Paula, sons Paul (Donna) and Christopher (Laura), grandchildren Taylor, Madison and Cailyn, sisters Shirley Melvin (Patrick), Mary Cooke, brothers Emmanuel (Num) (Sheila), Tom (Sheila), Aunt Sr. Madeline Cooke, (grey sisters), numerous nieces and nephews and mother-in-law Madeline Andrews. Denis was like a father to his sisters-in-law Christine Bradshaw, Tina Quinn (James), and brother-in-law Mark Andrews.

Denis was predeceased by his mother and father Peggy and Gerald Cooke, niece Allison Melvin and great-grandson Denis Paul.

The family sends special thanks to the Palliative Care team, Helen Davies, Sarah, Cathy and the homecare people, especially Romy. Special thanks to his oncologists Dr. Richard Lee Ying and Dr. Riz Qureshi.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827-24th Street SW) on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in memory of Denis. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services (403) 277-7343.
