Condolence From: Dan Breeze
Condolence: I recently learned of Mike’s passing last year. Mike hired me at Harry Rosen in Winnipeg in 1991 as a part time sales person as I started to save for university. He was a mentor for me then and led by example with a truly unique way of making people feel comfortable. One could easily see his gift of sales and leadership at his young age. I loved when he would send a customer into the change room and when they would emerge he would pretend he couldn’t see them as he joked the customer looked so good they turned into a display mannequin. His focus on the client and attention to detail have remained with me throughout my career. Thank you Mike and rest in peace.

Condolence: I just found out by chance today that we lost Michael last year. When I write "lost Michael", that is how I feel. The world is less of a place without him in it. I first met Michael back in Winnipeg at Harry Rosen when I bought my first suit for my University graduation. I walked into Harry Rosen thinking it was going to be too expensive for a Transcona born University graduate with no job at that time. As I walked in, I saw the most handsome and smiley guy ever. It was Michael. He was charming, cool and everything great a man could be. I purchased a $1000 suit from him when a $200 suit would have been fine, especially in the mid 90's. As time went on, I would occasionally see him and purchase things. After moving to Calgary I lost track of him and didn't even feel like checking out Harry Rosen in Calgary. A few years ago I just happened to pop into Harry Rosen in Chinook mall and to my surprise, Michael was there. We chatted for probably 30 minutes. Obviously I purchased some clothes, because who couldn't when they are being helped by Michael. Long story short, I want to pass on my condolences. I know I'm late, but I just found out from Can today. Hopefully his family and friends get a chance to see this, but in the end, they already know everything I've said about him. He was incredible and we were all better for knowing him. Thinking of him in heaven charming everyone and probably has quite a nice looking place up there and the best suit around. Stuart

Condolence: Good to read through all these caring messages. As I sit up here at work finishing off my day and nightfall is in full swing at 5pm I am reminded of how much Mike really hated the cold! Going down to -31 by week's end again; there are so many moments I think of Mike throughout each and every day even though he's been gone for almost 6 months now he's still very fresh in my mind and heart. Missing you skiing this season Mike! So glad when i can share some time with Bonnie and the kids as I love them all as only the closest of life-long friends can. Poke your head out of the clouds and send me some warm winds now and then Mike! Miss you.

Condolence: Dear Bonnie, Logan and Mason. I am so so sorry For your loss. I have such fond memories of Mike every time I got to work with him on various video projects including the short film we created together for his Conquer Cancer ride last year. I so wished that I could have attended his memorial service in August or had a chance to say goodbye. I’m sure the sadness I feel is nothing in comparison to your grief now that he is gone. Mike was so full of life and creativity and I know he touched my life and so many others. He always talked so fondly of his wife and kids and was so proud of his family. When the time is right for you, I may be able to find some old video footage that we shot together and I would be happy to get that to you. Please contact me at craigery@me.com. I look forward to hearing from you and my prayers are with you during this very very hard time of change.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies and condolences to Mike's family and all those whose lives he touched. Although I did not know Mike very well, I knew "1 kidney Mike" from his Ride to Conquer Cancer efforts. His spirit and perseverance truly marked him as one of the giants of the Ride. He touched many lives through the Ride and his loss will be sorely felt. Requiescat in pace.

Condolence: Bonnie, Logan and Mason Sending you my deepest condolences. I will miss hearing Mike’s voice, seeing his latest creation or hearing about one of his adventures. Mike always had a way of making his presence known. Bonnie I still remember when you met Mike and how he was such a romantic, giving you notes or making you a cake on your birthday. I remember how excited he was when Logan and then Mason was born. He loved his girls and enjoyed being goofy to make them laugh. Bonnie you have been an amazing partner to Mike and I know how hard this has been for you and the girls as you stood with him through this fight against cancer. I found a quote that reminded me of what mike, you and the girls taught me “When you die, it does not mean you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and the manner in which you live.” (Stuart Scott) Sending my love Nancy

Condolence From: Richard and Paula Daley
Condolence: Bonnie, Logan, and Mason: Words cannot express the heartfelt sorrow we feel for your loss. It is also very difficult to put into words what an incredibly special person Mike was. His charm, passion, humor, and incredible wit, along with his "larger than life" presence, will forever be embedded in our hearts. Months or even years could go by without us seeing each other, and yet Mike with his warm, genuine, and engaging personality always made us feel like no time had passed at all. The angels were dancing the day Mike was born, and God has now prepared a very special place for him as he welcomes him home. "When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am." John 14:3 Our love and prayers are with you, Richard and Paula Daley

Condolence: Bonnie, my heart is very sad. I would often bump into Mike at Polo Park Starbucks when he was here on business. He was always so friendly and kind not only to me, but to everyone. He was a classy man but definitely not a snobby one. He conducted himself professional but personable. You were a blessed woman and he a blessed man. No amount of hugs or tears will be enough to smother the pain, but may these precious memories give you an anticipation of seeing him again one day!!

Condolence: Bonnie, Logan and Mason, I am so sorry for your loss. I shared many laughs with Mike during my time at Harry Rosen in Winnipeg. We had many great lunches together at DeLuca’s on Portsge Avenand we rocked out many a night to the tunes that Mike would bring to the store while we cleaned up. I was glad I got to stay in touch over the years with Mike and was very glad we were able to have dinner last fall. There’s no words that can make things better for you but I know you will cherish the time you had with him. I’m glad I got to know Mike. I’m better because of it. Take care of yourselves. Corbin
