Obituary for Margaret Elaine Schetterer (Swan)

Margaret Elaine Schetterer (Swan)
Schetterer, Margaret Elaine
April 2, 1953 - May 13, 2017

Schetterer, Margaret Elaine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, where she enjoyed her last weeks surrounded by her family. She will be missed by her loved and devoted daughters, Tonya and Karla Schetterer. Margaret will be remembered by her caring partner, Colin Lesyk. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Swan and sister Mary Lane of Yellowknife NWT. She was predeceased by her father, Ron Swan, siblings, Don, John and Kathryn.

Margaret was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan. She was an exceptional cook with skills honed in rural Saskatchewan that made dinner a time of warmth and comfort for anyone blessed to be included. When she wasn’t busy in the kitchen, Marg loved to garden. A kind country girl at heart, Marg lived a full life of travel and gathering to celebrate the love of family and friends.
Margaret was an accomplished professional in the financial industry with senior roles at First Calgary Financial, Celero Solutions and Credit Union Central.

Margaret’s life was not defined by the cancer that would take her life. It was a life filled with love, travel and adventure right to the end. Her two beautiful and devoted daughters, Tonya and Karla spent almost every day with her, caring for her, loving her and with much laughter and sisterly bickering over their version of the adventures they shared as they reminisced on the wonderful life Margaret created for them. Margaret’s partner and dear friend, Colin Lesyk provided loving support to the girls, and was always supportive and made sure Margaret knew she was loved.

Margaret was grateful for the many people who provided love, encouragement and support during this difficult journey. Words could not express the gratitude she felt for the friends, family and medical professionals that provided stewardship, support and advice during the challenging times.
