Cathy who was born Veronica Kathleen DesRochers in St. Boniface, Manitoba March 17, 1956, passed away peacefully November 6, 2014 surrounded by family and friends at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Cathy was predeceased by her mother Rose Friesen, father Armand DesRochers, brothers Albert and Francis Guay, and sister Margaret Clark. Cathy is survived by her loving husband Tom Miller, children Lindsay, Meagan and Zachary Keelaghan, step-children Amanda and Randy Miller, grandchildren Riley, Madyson, Justin and Corey, sisters Janine (Tom) Taylor, Helen (Ron) Russell, Johnnie DesRochers and Susan (Jack) MacKenzie, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. Cathy's family would like to give special mention to Gloria Roberts whose friendship, loyalty, love and dedication to Cathy was a testament to true friendship. Cathy worked at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre for over 30 years. She was dedicated to her residents and held in high esteem by those she worked with and considered them as an extension of her family. Cathy's most precious gift was her children (whose father was Ed Keelaghan who passed away in August, 2014). She was a single mom who selflessly dedicated her life to their well being. Cathy's life was further enriched by the addition of her grandchildren. Cathy married Tom Miller on March 17, 2000. He brought her much joy and she was happy to have someone to share her life with. Tom's love for Cathy shone brightly especially these last few months when her quality of life was diminishing - Tom never left her side. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nursing staff and chronic care team at the Peter Lougheed Centre, her home care team and all those that came and visited, brought meals, love and comfort during her illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Road NE) on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 am.
