October 25, 1954 - September 8, 2014

After a brave six year battle with cancer, Doug Toomer passed away peacefully, with his daughter Talecha by his side, on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Agape Hospice, at the age of 59. Doug had an amazing ability to connect with everybody. If you met Doug - you became instant friends with him. He was a hard worker, and was known for his generosity, and offering a helping hand. Doug's passions were riding his Harley Davidson and playing his guitar. He will be forever missed by his daughter Talecha Tobin; son-in-law Mark Tobin; Talecha's mother Linda Braid; brothers Donald and Allan Toomer; sister Shirley (Eric) Hansen; numerous nieces and nephews; friend and business partner Dave Krueger; as well as extended family and friends. An informal celebration of Doug's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 284 (606-38th Avenue NE) on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm with tributes and open mic at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Salvation Army Agape Hospice (1302-8th Avenue NW, Calgary, T2N 1B8) or the Mustard Seed (102-11th Avenue SE, Calgary, T2G 0X5).
