Obituary for Ruth Barkey (Weir)
Margaret "Ruth" Barkey (Weir)
August 25, 1938 - January 9, 2019
Unexpectedly for us but not for God, Mom went home with Jesus instead of home with us on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, while still in hospital. God was gracious. Dad (Eric) and Heather were with her - she just said “I feel faint” and then our LORD and hers took her home smoothly and quickly. We, her family, are crying tonight because we miss her but know she is home with our LORD. We trust Jesus is still our shepherd through this valley of shadow and our hope is in Him, who we will see face to face.
Missing her so much and much loved by her: Eric (husband), Neil (son), Heather (daughter), Cody (son-in-law), Meg, Quinn, Jack, Kate (grandkids), her dear Weir/Barkey siblings, spouses, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Joyfully reunited with her Saviour, along with Rachel (daughter-in-law) and all those who have gone before.
“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” Romans 12:9-13 ESV
There will be a service to remember Ruth on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Foothills Alliance Church (333 Edgepark Blvd. NW, Calgary, AB). We anticipate livestream will be available at www.foothillsalliance.com.
