The family of Don Wilcox sadly announces his passing on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the age of 74.

Don proudly served the Coast Guard Cutter Halfmoon assigned as a Radio Operator, and toured the East Atlantic from Argentia, Newfoundland to Varadaro, Cuba. On his eighth tour to Bermuda he met his wife, Lorna, and they were married in Calgary the following year; spending 52 years together.

He became an amateur radio operator, and built his own radio at the age of 13, starting as WA6MKB and ending with his silent key of VE6CG.

Don was the Chief of Radio Communications at the Canmore Nordic Centre, for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.

He leaves behinds his wife, Lorna; son, John (Hope); daughter, Bev (Donald); and grandchildren, Brian, Alisha, Sylvia, Geoffrey, and Hailey. Missing him also are Big Rock (Rocky) the Yorchi, and Kokanee the cat.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at Choice Memorial (#105, 4715 – 13th Street NE).
