Barbara Marie Burrell passed away peacefully from this world to the next after a brief encounter with colon cancer. She was 88 years old. Barbara was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and resided in Saskatchewan and Ontario before settling in Alberta. Aside from raising her children and one of her grandchildren, Barbara was an entrepreneur who owned a custom canvas business. She indulged her creative side by making, firing, and painting her own ceramics. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, crochet, and re-upholstering furniture to her own specifications.
She was predeceased by her parents, her children Michael, JoAnn, and Joe, and many beloved poodles.
Barbara is survived by her children Mary and Patrick; her daughter-in-law Sheila; her grandchildren Juan, Peter, Josiah, Kirk, Becky, Dalainee, Kyle, and their spouses; and many great-grandchildren. She is missed by her beloved canine companion Benson.
At Barbara’s request, there will be no formal funeral. However, there will be a memorial dinner and open house at a later date. Please contact the family for the details.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff on unit 73 at Rockyview General Hospital, as well as the Palliative Home Care team that made it possible for Barbara’s family to care for her at home until she passed. A special thank you to Tobi and Joanna from the palliative home care team. Your compassion gave us the strength to make Barbara’s last wish come true.
