FONG, Stanley Owen
March 3rd, 1925 - November 15th, 2018

Stanley Owen Fong passed away at the Dulcina Hospice, Covenant Care, St. Marguerite Manor, in Calgary, AB on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 93 years. Beloved husband of Ming Hu Wong, he leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted children, Carol-Ann (Jim) Lewis, James (Ellen) Fong, Charlene (Chuck) Andreas, Lisa (Brent) McDonell, Grant (Bev) Fong; and Ming’s sons, Peter (Lola) Wong, and John (Susan) Wong. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Jennifer, Julie, Janine, Suzanne, Mark, Kimberly, Keira, Sidney, Christian, Brook, Logan and Jackson. Stan was born in Calgary on March 3, 1925 and grew up in Wayne, AB where he helped his family operate the Western Café. Following his graduation at the Montana School of Mines, Stan’s Corrosion Engineering career included the pulp mill in Hinton, AB, Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas (later became Dome Petroleum), Flint Engineering, and Suncor. He was a loving, wonderful, generous, and quietly supportive father. He sang in St. David’s Men’s Choir for years. Stan and Ming sang in The Passion Play choir in Drumheller. He also played the bass drum with the Grey Macs Bagpipe Band.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Dulcina Hospice for the extraordinary care that he received. Thanks also, to the staff at the Valley Ridge Lodge for their care and support. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. David’s United Church, 3303 Capitol Hill Crescent NW, Calgary, with Rev. Peggy McDonagh officiating.
