Hawreliak, Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Neigel)
December 12, 1944 – November 19, 2018

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Hawreliak at the age of 73 years following a courageous battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Barry Beaudry; son, Greg; daughter, Jody (Jim); step-son, Kevin (Melody); step-daughter, Bonnie (Troy); and nine grandchildren, Brayden, Nolan, Josh, Lauryn, Sydney, Ryder, Evan, Noah and Brody. She is survived by her sisters Helen, Lil and Martha; brothers, Ted and George; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Emma and Peter; sisters, Rose, Violet and Clara; brothers, Jack and Leroy; and her first husband, Harry Hawreliak.

Betty was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and was the youngest girl in a family of 11 children. She was always a “farm girl” at heart which was evident in her life-long love of animals, birds and gardening. She returned to her rural roots, spending her last years residing in Didsbury, Alberta with her husband Barry. Betty was a devoted mother and enjoyed being at home to raise her two children. She volunteered many hours at their schools before returning to work in 1983. Betty had a successful career with Calgary Co-operative prior to her retirement in 2004. She was an avid golfer, curler, dancer, singer, camper, decorator and an amazing cook. Her grandchildren always appreciated the special meals she made for them and the fun sleepovers at their Baba’s (Aunty’s) house. Betty touched many lives with her generous heart and positive spirit. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Betty’s life at the Knox United Church, (1406 -19 Avenue, Didsbury, Alberta) on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Edna Janice Walls, officiating.
Betty’s family would like to thank Dr.Geleidi and the staff at Apple Wellness Center in Airdrie, the Didsbury Home Care Team, and the staff at Dulcina Hospice for their unsurpassed care and compassion.
