Fanciest Outhouse on the Lake

During the 1980s-90s, when Mom was able to travel long distances, she visited us in Toronto several times. She particularly enjoyed spending time at our cottage on a lake NE of Toronto. Here she would do many nature walks and sketch aspects of the surrounding environment that caught her interest. Some of her sketches were done on paper, but she would often draw on natural surfaces, such as sheets of white bark that Silver Birch trees had shed, a slice of a tree that we had cut down for firewood, or a large flat rock along the edge of the access road. Her masterpiece, however, was her painting of our outhouse so that it blended in with the surrounding trees and vegetation (see the photo which shows her at work creating "the fanciest outhouse on the lake". She was an artist in every way.
