Debra McClelland
February 8th, 1962 - Thursday, October 4th, 2018

Deb was a beautiful mother of two children, but she was Mama D to so many more. She is
survived by her husband Warren; daughter Tara Dafoe (Menina); son Cody (Jesse)
Petitclerc; and adopted parents George and Moira Jaques. She will be carried on in their
hearts forever. Deb is also survived by her siblings Terry (Patty) Bingham, Kelley Bingham, and
Glenn Bingham; and the McClelland family. She was predeceased by her father Alexander β€œBing”; mother Marilyn; twin brother Donald who passed at birth; and great nephew Asher. Deb will be remembered by her best friend Elsa who was dedicated to providing comfort for her until the very end. She will also be remembered by her many other friends and family members, especially her great nephews Holter, Johnny and Finley.

Deb grew up in Port Alice, BC. Her parents owned the local bowling alley there, and her love for
bowling and many other sports began early. Her dream was to one day return to the island and retire
near the water. She loved to work, and made many friends everywhere she was. Her smile lit up every room, and there wasn’t a place or situation where she couldn’t find the positive.

As a single Mother, Deb was the strongest woman anyone knew and she was fiercely dedicated
to providing the best life for her children. Being far from her family, Deb’s many friends
welcomed her in as their own and she cherished each and every one of them. Until the very
end, her main concern was making sure everyone else around her was taken care of. The world
lost one of the best and everyone who knew Deb is better for it.

One of her last wishes was to thank all the Nurses and Doctors who made her feel safe and
comfortable in her final journey. A special thank you to the Palliative Home Care team who
went above and beyond. Your impact will never be forgotten.

β€œA life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”
- Jack Robinson

In a sentence, Mama D impacted many lives, may she rest peacefully.
