Obituary for William Lloyd "Bill" Cormack

William Lloyd (Bill) Cormack, passed away on September 5, 2018 at the age of 73 with family lovingly beside him.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Rosetown Cemetery. Lunch will follow at Shanidar Funeral Services in Rosetown, Saskatchewan.

Bill was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan to Pete and Peggy Cormack on October 31, 1944. He went to school in Herschel and Rosetown. He left as a young man to see the world in the Canadian Navy. Bill began his lifelong work as a firefighter at Burnaby Fire Department, moving on to Airdrie, Alberta, and then Nova Corp. near Red Deer where he continued working in a career that gave him such pride. Also, his love of farming was shown on the farm near Innisfail, Alberta. Bill was involved in the initial introduction of Boer Goats into Canada and served with the Boer Goat Association, with his animals winning many awards. In his retirement, Bill loved to ride his motorcycle; go south during the cold winter months; and he had so much love for his red headed “girlfriend” - his dog Jasmine.

Bill is survived by his son Jim (Tanya) and their children, Stephen, Sarah and Thomas; his son Kevin (Erlinda) and their children Eden, Alex and Ella; his brother and sisters, Gord Cormack (Susan); Donella Rudd (Wayne); Marilyn Debreuil (Bert) along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother James Edward Cormack.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s memory may be given to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Bill’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at both Red Deer Hospital and Rocky View ICU, Calgary; along with the compassionate care he received from Stars Air Ambulance.
