Obituary for David "Dave" Neufeld

David "Dave" Neufeld
Dave Neufeld
February 12, 1941 - August 21, 2018

After a long battle with Cancer, Dave went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

Dave was born in Griswold, Manitoba, to John and Helen Neufeld, the second youngest of eleven children. As a youngster, Dave and his sister Kathie enjoyed oil painting and playing with their border collie, Mongul.

Dave was inspired by the music of Chet Atkins and taught himself to play guitar.

In 1960, Dave and Carolyn met on a blind date, and were married two years later, in September 1962. They moved to Calgary in 1967.

Throughout his life, Dave worked as a journeyman electrician, then educationally upgraded in his late forties, earning an engineering degree.

In June 1979, Dave accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. Dave was a committed Christian and spent the next 39 years pursuing the presence of God.

Music was one of his greatest passions. In the 1970's, Dave was involved in cover bands, then later, played his guitar in church. A deeply creative man, another of his passions was writing poetry.

Further creativity was focused on inventing. Two of Dave’s pet projects were; water for gas and magnetic energy, as cost effective alternatives for fossil fuel in automobiles.

Another natural talent was video production, which Dave used in later years to serve his church.

Another of Dave’s passions was camping and travel. Over the years. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. First with his two daughters and then with his grandchildren. In their golden years, he and Carolyn travelled by truck and fifth wheel to many locations throughout Canada and the U.S.

Dave Neufeld is survived by his loving wife Carolyn; daughters Sherry (Mike) and Wendy; grandchildren Jasmine (Dan), Josiah (Natalie) and Jessica; as well as one great-grandchild Levi David; his middle name, Dave’s namesake. Dave is also survived by five siblings Pete (Betty), Helen, Hank (Gert), Kathie, Susie (Hank), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life / Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 P.M at Jubilee Christian Centre (Jubilee Church - 458- 35th Avenue NW, Calgary), with reception to follow at the same location. Pastor Dick DeWeert of Third Day Church in Lethbridge, Alberta, will officiate.

A special Thank you to staff and volunteers at Chinook Hospice where Dave spent the last nine weeks of his life.
