Sharon Udy
December 30th, 1934 - September 21st, 2018

Sharon Renea {Fuhriman} Udy passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in the Rosedale Hospice at Calgary Alberta.

Sharon was born on December 30th 1934 to Delbert Fuhriman and Elna {Matthews} of Cache County Utah. She attended and graduated from Bear River High School in Tremonton, Utah in 1952.

At Christmas in 1952 she got engaged and then married Richard Udy in June 1953. They had their first son Delbert in May of 1954. Her daughter Sherrie was born in 1955, just 3 short months before the family moved from Utah to the Peace River Country in northern British Columbia, Canada. Son Brent came along a couple of years later in 1959.

Sharon was a hard worker all of her life. She was employed in hotel and restaurant management for many years. She expanded her adventures when she decided she wanted to go to Alaska; where she worked on the Alaska Ferries. She eventually found that her charismatic personality was well-suited to sales. She started selling furniture in Calgary, and continued when she moved back to Utah to help take care of her Aunt. She worked at RC Willey in Salt Lake City until she retired, then eventually moved back to Canada to be closer to family.

Sharon was the family matriarch. The glue. She would try to keep in contact with all branches of the extended family even thought they were now scattered around British Columbia and Alberta in Canada; and Utah, California, Wyoming and elsewhere in the states.

At home in Calgary, she was forever cooking and delivering meals to friends and family whenever she thought they needed it. She was always thinking of others, checking on the sick or housebound, or sending someone to check on them if she wasn’t able.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents Delbert and Elna Fuhriman; her former husband, Richard Udy; her brothers Dale, Paul and Glenn; and her son Brent.

She will be forever loved and remembered by her son Delbert; her daughter Sherrie Day; sisters Lorna Hans, Patricia Campbell and Linda Arnold (Brian); brother Calvin; as well as her granddaughter Shawna Day-Marineau (Troy); grandson Ryan; great-grandson Joey Day-Marineau; niece (whom she considered her 2nd daughter) Kathy Schwartz (Kevin); and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and more.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local food bank, or take a meal to someone who needs it. That’s what she would do…..
