Katherine Meston
July 27th, 1950 - Thursday, July 19th, 2018
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Katherine Ann Meston, born on July 27, 1950 in Calgary, Alberta to Jean and Arthur Piper. She departed this life on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Southwood Hospice due to pancreatic cancer.
Kathy graduated at Victoria High School after which she worked at Canpar as an Accounting Assistant. In the mid 1980’s Kathy became a stay at home mom, bookkeeper and, also worked at various bakeries. Kathy loved playing cards and listening to the oldies into the late hours of the morning with loved ones. We have found memories of playing “TWO sets of Three”, a game that we continue to play today. Kathy loved spending time with her family either at Zellers or over at her Queensland home where we enjoyed many dinners. She had a passion for crafts such as paper tole, knitting and creating her infamous 3D cakes.
On January 30, 1982 Kathy married her soul mate and best friend Grant Meston. They were together for 31 years and married for 23 of them. Together they visited Hawaii, a trip she spoke of many times. They are together now enjoying the sun and the waves…
Kathy is forever remembered by her mother-in-law Shirley Piper; sister-in-law Geraldine Piper; siblings Thomas Piper (Brenda), Stephen Piper (Sharon), and Doug Prodahl (Debbie); her loving children Corey Moss (Shelley), Troy Moss (Sharm) and Carrie Banman; grandchildren Christopher and Kaylene Moss, Seth and Wyatt Moss, Cody, Samantha and Jordon Banman; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathy Meston is preceded in death by her husband Grant Meston; father Arthur Piper; mother Jean Piper; brother Arthur (Jim) Piper; and niece Lee-Anne Prodahl.
A Graveside Service in memory of a beautiful Woman, Mother and Grandmother will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 - 4 Street NW) on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 am; with a celebration of Kathy’s life to follow at 328 Douglas Ridge Close SE.
