The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Lester Bastarache can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Don’t try to understand them

Taken from the Bastarache/Comeau Family book

"While I was in Gagetown, 1969,Mom and Dad moved back to Saint John. I was with a friend, who was in the army, and he asked if I knew any girls in Saint John. I told him I knew two sisters, but I wanted the best looking one. So we traveled to Saint John and asked Marsha and her sister if they wanted to go out. We took them out several times. The next thing I knew I was asking Marsha to marry me. I actually didn’t tell Mom and Dad until about three weeks before the wedding. I remember Dad taking me for a short drive to the store (having a father to son talk). He didn’t say too much, but what he did say meant everything. He asked if I really loved her, then said “don’t try to understand them, just love her and share everything with her”. At the time I didn’t know what he meant, but now I sure do"
