Condolences

Condolence From: Karl Pereira
Condolence: Brian, I worked with you for a couple of months in 2016 at ASIG, and believe me, I loved every story that you told us about the planes that had come through YYC over the years. Totally loved how practically every plane on the ramp had a story behind it. Loved all the photos you shared with us, and the stories behind them. I honestly never even knew half the planes that existed before you told us about them. Loved how to get someone to punch in your tickets, was always accompanied by a can of Pepsi. You were a gem, and may you be the angel to watch all over us. Granted I am late in my condolences, but I promise you that your still remember everyday and will never be forgotten. Gone but not forgotten.

Condolence: I have worked with Brian since February 1988 and have always enjoyed his company. He was one of the few people I have known to be so upbeat. Brian was such an enthusiastic Fueller. Give him a WestJet or a United and he was off to the races in Charlie 2 or later in his Charlie 30 as Brian would call back when relaying his numbers.Brian was most happy when he was in the company of others either having a Coffey or breakfast. He will be sorely missed and I will always hold a special place in my heart for him.Happy adventures Brian

Condolence: Brian not many people can say that they have fond memories of replacing a hot water tank in their home. I can still recall the words " let me do that for you" while we were chatting at PLH back in the nineties. What a fun adventure it turned out to be as we picked up the tank and changed out the old one. You were in your element helping me and I will never forget you for that. As a lead hand and ramp operations supervisor I could always assign you any number of flights and all would be fuelled correctly and the flight crews made to feel good at the same time. You would always bring back a story about who you met and I was happy to listen. Fuelling an aircraft for you meant more than "throwing" a hose at an aircraft! You saw it as an assignment that involved looking after the people as well as the aircraft. Reading the tributes from the Westjet pilots brought tears to my eyes as that is exactly how the job should be done. While a lot of us moved on you carried on doing a great job and you must be very proud. Thanks so much for all the good times when we worked together old pal and also for staying in touch with me. There were some challenging days at my new FBO job and I recall the sheer joy when I would get a call telling that there was a Brian Mc Knight at the reception desk. I am glad that I always made the time for you and saddened beyond belief that I couldn't make the time to meet you in Vegas as you had requested. Farewell Oh Great One you were a special person and the World is an empty place with out you.

Condolence: I'm sorry to hear of Brian's passing. He had a great smile and was always so friendly. The time he took every day to connect with pilots made YYC airport a much more friendly place. I'll miss seeing him on the ramp.

Condolence: My most sincere condolances to Brian’s family. Brian’s appearance at the aircraft on even the most blustery winter mornings always seemed to make the skies clearer. He never let anything dampen his spirits and always looked at everything positive about the day, and he always was looking forward to his next trip, or seeing the grandkids. Brian always would come up to the flight deck to say hello...,unless I saw him first. I then, dropped what I was doing and went down to make sure I had my chat just in case he was too busy to come see us. Brian will be sadly missed out on the line. RIP good man.

Condolence: Pease accept my sincere condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Brian was a bright light and his smiling face was always a pleasure when he entered the flight deck. I enjoyed many an early morning hot coffee with Brian on a cold winters day. Brian always gave us a little extra fuel for our trips when the weather was bad. He called it some for “Grandma and the kids”. He probably never realized how important that extra touch was to us and what it truly meant but it was always appreciated. We’re going to miss you Brian. Rest easy old friend. Cap’n Al Byl

Condolence: So sad to hear about Brian’s passing. Brian was a great guy and very nice person. Always quiet and assuming. Always smiling. I met Brian over 19 years ago when he would come out to refuel our aircraft. He always took the time to say hello, and I would shake his hand at every encounter. Of course he would tell you that has hands were dirty, but no one cared. Brian had a routine. He would always come up to the flight deck to bring us our total fuel numbers and stop by for a chat about family and a good word. On cold days, we would always make him a coffee to help warm him up. He never missed a chance to come up and say hi to us, and we loved having him drop by. On a few occasions, and when it was still permitted, Brian would ride jump seat with us in the flight deck, to where ever he was going. He just loved it, and when you looked back to chat with him while flying, he still had that ear to ear smile. He simply loved it. Brian was one of us. Although he worked for a refueling company, he was like WestJet’s one and only refueler. You will be missed my friend, but you are now soaring over all of us, to better heights and still smiling.

Condolence: Just sad to see you go. My favorite refueler and what a nice guy you were. I don't think you ever topped up my tanks without taking the time to say hi and share a few minutes to catch up and let me know what was going on in your life. The little note or surprise A&W burger coupon left on my yoke clip were always welcome. I bet you made a whole slew of fellow pilot friends who are going to miss you on the ramp buddy. Take care up there Brian. Damian

Condolence: We would always share a beer at the airport on our birthdays. I would often buy his lottery tickets in Toronto for him when I was flying and he would wager a small bet for me in Vegas. All in good fun. He would always track me down on the field if I was working. Would try to get to fuel my plane so we could chat. If not he would find me and come up to the flight deck for a visit. He was always smiling, always welcome, and a highlight of a working day if I saw him. He will be sadly missed. Loved his family and cherished his grandkids. The pictures always came out on our visits. God speed my friend. You went too soon, I’ll make some arrangements up there. I have a few friends that might like a beer or a scotch and share some flying stories. Miss you buddy
