AN OPEN LETTER TO ART HENUSET FROM YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

We lost you, our beloved husband, father, brother and friend on Friday May 25th at age 52.

As your partner and wife of 33 years, I, Tracy am truly grateful for the time we shared. We grew together and completed each other. Each of us allowing the other to be independent but being an amazing team. I will cherish our memories in the fondest way. I deeply mourn that we will not continue our life journey. The motorcycle accident took you from us far too soon. You helped me shape and coach our lovely daughters, Madison and Makenna, into beautiful young women. I loved to hear you boast of their successes. I will always remind them of how proud you were of them. You will be in my heart sharing our daughter’s lives. I hope one day they will find the same true love that we had. I will miss you my love.

As your daughters, we Madison and Makenna, appreciate all you taught us; from how to ride and drive bikes, go-carts and cars to operating large machines to cut the grass. One of our greatest lessons is to always be optimistic and capable. With the help of Mum by your side you molded us into the independent, open minded, young women we have become. You were our shield when we were afraid, our guidance when we felt lost, and our hero whenever a hero was needed. We will miss your vibrant soul and mesmerizing laughter. In your honour we will hold our heads high and, each and every day, take the skills and advice you passed onto us and grow with them in our hearts. We will miss you Dad.

As our baby brother, we Laura, Donna and Lydia admired the man you became. You were the voice of reason in difficult family situations. Yet you made us laugh with your stories, antics and wild arm movements. You were always there to help, be it retrieving a dead vehicle from a highway 50 kms away to fixing little things. Thanks for always having our backs and never asking anything in return. You inherited Dad’s mechanical abilities, work ethic and desire to create, yet took it so much further with your artistic abilities whether it was building sub arc automatic welding machines, clocks or pool tables; you created pieces of “Art”. We often boasted that you could drive, fix or build anything. We saw the joy it brought to Mum to see you marry Tracy and have her grandchildren. You united a bond in our family that will never be broken. You were a true friend and a loved brother. We will miss you little brother.

As our friend, some of us have known you since kindergarten. You were never pompous or boastful, living your life with the highest degree of loyalty and integrity. Never was there a man who could be relied upon so much, regardless of the need or cause. You were “down to earth Art”, that go-to guy that everyone wanted in their corner. Now we step up to be in your corner, committed to doing everything we can to be there for your family in your absence. You were the definition of a true friend and we will all miss you.

Each of us will miss you in our own way. We will keep you close and in our hearts through memories of our lives together. May there always be sunshine and dry payment on the road you are riding now.
