Gregorio “Gorio” Apanto, Sr. of Dapa, Surigao del Norte, passed away, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Peter Lougheed Centre, Calgary, AB.

Gregorio was born on September 03, 1939 in Dapa, Surigao del Norte, Philippines to Generosa and Felix Apanto. He was married to the late Myrna C. Apanto in Dapa and was widowed on April 03, 2010. Gregorio was a Government employee in the Bureau of Customs in Cebu City, Philippines. He enjoyed working and only retired because he was already ripe for retirement at 65 years old. His family knew him as the shy and silent type with a very good heart for everyone. He’s also not a fan of walking fast.:D He’s just a very calm and relaxed man.

Gregorio is survived by his two sons Marlon and Gregorio “Jun” Apanto, Jr.; three daughters Mylene Apanto, Gayle San Mateo, and Iris Demafeliz; thirteen grandchildren: Ardi ‘ eamae Dumadag, Karen Kaye Peligro, Miko Takada, Jobelle, Harryl and Nathaniel San Mateo, Marvin and Carla Apanto, Earl Gregory Apanto, Christine Jaki Escalante, Missy Calang, Arielle Mae and Aubrey Anne Demafeliz; and two great grandchildren Daniela Kirstie Gencono and Avery Summer Peligro.

There will be a wake and viewing at Choice Memorial (105 - 4715 13 Street NE, Calgary) on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6-10 pm, with Prayers and Tributes starting at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Rd NE, Calgary) on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm, with Reverend John Pinto presiding. Those wishing to sign Gregorio’s guestbook may do so at Choice Memorial during his wake.
