Obituary for Domenico Mattucci

Domenico Mattucci
Domenico Mattucci "Domenic"
June 21, 1931 – May 8, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Domenico Mattucci on May 8, 2018. Domenic was born on June 21, 1931 in Rocca San Giovanni, Chieti, Italy. Domenic immigrated to Canada in 1951. Arriving in Montreal, he later settled in Calgary with his wife Iolanda. Building a life and family together included his career working as a supervisor with Modern Building Cleaning. He finished his career at the Holy Cross Hospital in maintenance. He was very proud to earn his certificate in 4th class power engineering from SAIT. Domenic prided himself on being able to provide for his family by not only helping his daughters, but his grandchildren as well.

Throughout his life and career, Domenic was well known as a jack-of-all-trades, and eager to help anyone with any tasks both within and outside of the home. When he was not working hard, Domenic thoroughly enjoyed making wine, fishing (with his dog Sammi), hunting, walking, riding his bike, watching wrestling and gardening. He also loved travelling with his wife Iolanda, especially on cruises. Domenic was a great story teller and left a lasting impression on those who met him. He was happiest when he was surrounded by family.

Domenic was predeceased by his wife Iolanda and is survived by a large family including his daughters Adina Mancini (Vito), and Maria Sartoris (Colin). Domenic was also Scioscio to his grandchildren Matthew (Lisa), Adam (Shawna), Anthony (Tracy), Jenna (Chris), and Nicki (Adam), and great grandchildren Domenico, Marcello, Kiara, Luciano, Giovanna, Stella, and Divina, all of Calgary.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 14 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:00 pm.
