Obituary for Kathryn "Katie" Amanda Daphnee Greyson

Kathryn Greyson
December 2nd, 1998 - Friday, May 4th, 2018

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Kathryn, beloved daughter, sister and aunt. Katie was spirited, determined and full of life. She had a big, kind heart and was a loyal fun-loving friend. Katie was born in Port au Prince, Haiti and through adoption, came to Canada in September 1999 at the age of 9 months old. Katie became part of a large family, the 6th child out of 8 children.

Katie struggled for a few years with substance abuse. She went through treatment at AARC twice and tried very hard to work through what she needed to in order to reach the goals she had set for herself. Getting clean & sober, graduating high school, getting into cosmetology & cooking courses, getting her learners license and visiting her birth country of Haiti were all high on her list of goals. Unfortunately the struggle never did fully end, and God decided it was time to bring her home to Him. Katie had 7 nieces and nephews, whom she loved and adored so much. It was because of them that Katie pushed harder and strived to reach her goals, wanting to set an example to them of success and perseverance.

Katie will be greatly missed by her mother Elizabeth (Ken), father Michael, her siblings Kristina, Daniel, Kimberly, Kerri, David, Dominic and Kassandra as well as her nieces and nephews Evan, Ethan, Peyton, Emery, Elliot, Willow and Harper. She will be missed by the many parents and friends she made through her time at AARC, fellow students at school, coworkers through the jobs she held and many other connections along the way.

Katie will be fondly remembered for her love of the color purple, her frequent trips to McDonald’s for her favorite Jr Chicken or Big Mac meals, her endless collection of stuffies, housecoats & coffee mugs, her big heart for animals, especially her Chihuahua Jenny, the drives she loved taking around the city late at night, with one-on-one conversations, and of course her love and loyalty to her family and many friends.

Anyone wanting to pay respects to Katie is welcome to on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at First Alliance Church (12345-40 Street SE, Calgary).
