Obituary for Stanley Arthur Smythe

Stanley Arthur Smythe
Stanley “Stan” Smythe
June 8, 1953 – April 26, 2018

Stan Smythe passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the age of 64. He is survived by his loving daughters Deborah (Gordon) Bristow and Vanessa Sikomas; grandchildren Evangeline and Dylan Sikomas; former spouse and friend Betty Wilson; siblings Gordon Smythe, Anna Anderson and Kelly Smythe; and several nieces and nephews.

Stan came to Calgary at the age of 16 and always called it home. He loved animals, having many dogs and other pets over the years, and even fed stray cats. Stan always donated to charities that included the SPCA, Calgary Humane Society and the MS Society. A big fan of the Calgary Flames and Stampeders Football, Stan also loved classic rock and the occasional joint. Stan had an amazing memory, was a great storyteller, and loved to tell jokes to make people laugh. He worked very hard to make something of himself and to provide a good life for his family. Stan will be remembered as a generous, kind, loving, smart, funny, handyman with an infectious laugh.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Stan's name to the Calgary Human Society (https://www.calgaryhumane.ca/) or an animal charity of your choice.
