Obituary for Charles Edward Leaming

Charles Edward Leaming
Charles “Chuckles” “Chaz” Edward Leaming:
November 5, 1966 - March 16, 2018

Charlie crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully in his sleep at home in the early hours of March 16 2018.
When Charlie first came to live in his home - 28 years ago, so much of what we had been told, we quickly learned no longer applied. It was like watching a butterfly emerge. He grew into himself and became a vital member of the Indergaard family.

Charlie definitely had his challenges but who doesn’t? His challenges were not who he was. Charlie was a limited edition - he cannot be replaced.

Who was Charlie? He was a gentle and loving soul that was stuck in a body that did not look like or function in the same way an average persons does. If you were able to see past his packaging you would have learned that Charlie was amazing, the way he would tenderly stroke a puppy for hours or you might have noticed that he would shed his own tears when a baby cried.

You would have shared in delight over his infectious laugh and devious smile -with the certainty someone was about to get nailed with a pillow. He wasn’t called “Chuckles” for nothing.

You may have been amused or baffled by his twisted sense of humour that never failed to show up during a scary / action packed movie. Likewise you couldn’t miss his “grooving” side, while watching any of the Sister Act movies for the first or one hundredth time. Maybe you were envious of how “Chaz” flaunted his dance moves at Billy MacIntires back in his prime.

You might have noticed his quieter self, that is the side of Charlie that loved to sit and hold hands, watch the birds and squirrels outside or lounge in his pool and basque in the golden rays for hours. You might have been engaged by social Charlie who loved family gatherings, weddings and holidays. Or you may have suffered your first wallflower moment, as he made a beeline to seek out his favorite people and lavish in their attention.

If you were not able to see beyond the packaging, our family would like to offer you our deepest condolences - you will never know what you missed.

Left to mourn his passing are Candace & Shawn, Roxanna & Dean, Breanna & Marc, Kailen & Randi (Charlie’s beloved), Ellery, Ethan, Sjoren, Jacy, baby Orin, Bryan, Crystal, Doug, Gordon, Sussie, Brandi, Geoff, his guardian angel Teresa, Dean, Tracy and kids, the entire Butz family, Christine Mussienko and his Options family.

If Charlie could have spoken he would have expressed his thanks to Linda Powell for being his Champion and he would have told each of his staff how much he appreciated and loved them: Jackie (baby Ellie,), Tanya, LaDonna, Minori, Kayla, Ginger, Karen, Kim, Michelle. And to his amazing Dr. Greg Skinner and his family (Tammy, Kyle and Sam) for their never ending compassion, friendship and all the support you provided day or night right to the end, please know that Charlie was gratefull. As is his family.

There is no doubt that Charlie entered heaven and is currently loving an endless summer by his own personal pool, rejoined his beloved Gramma Roxie, his beloved Chere, Errol, Auntie Sandi, Auntie Jean and Uncle Al. And guarenteed his sweet pups Ali, Molly, Sadie and Chevy are close by.

A Celebration of Charlie's Life will be held in June. To view and share photos, condolences and stories of Charlie, please visit www.choicememorial.com. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services (403) 277-7343.
