Obituary for Anthony John Vincent Mifsud

Anthony John Vincent Mifsud
Anthony Vincent John “Toe Knee” Mifsud
August 18th, 1954 - Monday, February 12th, 2018

Tony Mifsud passed away in Calgary on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the age of 63 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 18, 1954 in Hamilton, Ontario, where he was also raised, educated, and started his own family.

Tony’s career as a promoter took him all over Ontario and other parts of the country. His charisma and dedication to his craft enabled him to develop many deep friendships with the people and businesses he helped. He eventually moved to Calgary, AB where he spent the last part of his life. Tony loved to travel and go on RV adventures with his family. Arranging puppet shows, games, and campfires at the annual Mifsud Family Campout was a yearly highlight in his life. He was a passionate collector and had a very creative and inventive mind. Tony described himself as “nonconforming, impulsive, expressive, intuitive, sensitive, romantic, and emotional”. He loved music, creating art, telling stories, and performing with his many Calgary East Village friends. He was loyal, caring, compassionate, kind, and empathetic to others. Toe Knee had a witty and unique sense of humour that he loved to express using puns. He is loved for the way he put his whole heart into everything he did.

Tony is survived by his son Christopher (Christina); daughter Jennifer Torossi (Luca); grandchildren (Christian, Evalina, and Lucy); brother Tarcis; sister Catherine Jones (Paul); brother Paul (Susan); brothers Albert and Danny; and several nieces and nephews. Tony is predeceased by his parents Annunziato and Maria (Gatt) Mifsud and his youngest brother Vincent.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Carya East (428 – 9 Avenue SE) on Thursday February 22, 2018 from 4-6pm. An additional Celebration of Life and internment will be held for Tony in Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to www.pancreaticcancercanada.ca. Condolences may be forwarded through www.choicememorial.com. The family would like to thank the many community care workers and medical staff who have helped Tony through his life, & the staff at Sarcee Carewest who helped him through his gentle passing.
