Obituary for Peter Gerald Charnock

Peter Gerald Charnock
Peter, beloved husband and best friend of Ann, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018. Peter was predeceased by infant son Peter, first wife Doris, and nephew John Pear. He is survived by daughter Delvena Doucette (grandson Scott, great-grandchildren Jessica and Liam, granddaughter Alexandra (Mark) and great grandson Cameron); daughter Shayne Finnie-Adkin (Christopher) (grandchildren Emily,Grace and Mya).

Peter is also survived by his sisters Joan of Preston, UK (nephew Thomas (Paula); sister Dorothy (Fred) of Manchester; nephew Christopher (Sue); sister Hilary (Allan) of Ottawa; niece Carrie (Kevin); nephew Colin (Tracey); grand niece Lucy and grand nephew Oscar.
Peter was the family patriarch, a brilliant mind who always knew the answer to the most bizarre questions anyone could ask. He was educated by the Jesuits in public school in England, (Stonyhurst) played soccer (his name is still on the school plaque 65 years later) immigrated to Canada, joined the reserve army, took a fling at stage acting then settled down as a career retailer (The Hudson Bay, Dylex) until retirement.

Peter loved travel, especially, Hawaii, Italy, France, Spain, England, Ireland, Scotland ,New Zealand, Cook Islands, the Caribbean, Alaska and nothing pleased him more than bringing grandchildren along on the trips, especially the fun filled annual trips to Medicine Hat! He loved the fact that he was blessed by the Pope in Rome while Ann and Emily missed out as they were buying tee shirts! A favorite spot closer to home was his beloved Kananaskis.

He is loved. He will be missed.

As per Peter's request, no formal service will be held. To view and share photos, condolences and stories of Peter, please visit www.choicememorial.com. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services (403) 277-7343.
