Bernice Murray
October 31st, 1927 - Wednesday, December 27th, 2017

Bernice Alice Murray, Aged 90 of Calgary AB passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017. Bernice was born in Calgary on October 31st, 1927 the daughter of Thomas and Ivy Franklin.

Bern or Bernie as everyone knew her was fun loving, caring and adventurous and her love for travel took her too many places. Her passion and delight for her Grand Children and Great Grand Children was undeniable.

Growing up in Calgary, she married Don M. Murray and moved to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory and then to Trenton, Ontario. She then returned west to Edmonton, Alberta to continue to raise her family, eventually ending up in Calgary, Alberta where she worked at A.G.T. (Alberta Government Telephones) as a supervisor for many years.

Bernice was active and loved the outdoors, whether it was golfing, hiking, bowling or camping with the family. She competed in the Seniors Olympics and was a regular at the Hillhurst Go-Getters Seniors Association.
She is survived by her son Don (Cindy) Murray of Ghost Lake, her daughter Gail (Wes) Smith of Calgary, along with her grandchildren Ryan (Nikki) Smith of Stony Plain, Lynsay (Ryan) Holmes of Calgary, Lindsey (Cam) Merkley of Calgary, Wesley Baumann of Edmonton and great grandchildren Sydney, Farrah, Jordyn, Brett, Cooper, Wallace and numerous loving relatives and friends.

Bernice is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Ivy Franklin and Brother John (Jack) Franklin.
She was the best Daughter, Wife, Mother, Nana (Gigi), Aunt and Friend imaginable and the family is terribly saddened by her passing.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Bowview Manor.

As per her wishes, High Tea will be held for close family and friends on Saturday, January 6th, 2018 at The Doves Nest in Glenmore Landing 106A -1600 90 Ave. S.W. Calgary, AB from 2:00 to 5:00.
