Obituary for Willie Fon Way Mah

Willie Fon Way Mah
(1932 – 2017)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, Willie Mah. On the evening of November 12, 2017, he passed away at the age of 85.

Willie Mah immigrated from rural China to Regina, Saskatchewan as a young man. In a new country that presented him with many opportunities, he worked hard to become the entrepreneur that most of us know him to be. He loved to call Regina home and was most proud of his Chinese heritage. Willie enjoyed busying himself with reading the newspaper after his daily swim at The Lawson Aquatic Centre and Sportplex, spending time with his family and watching CFL (Go Riders!), NHL and documentaries with the occasional power nap in between. Dad knew his way around a kitchen pretty well as he was famous for his made from scratch pancakes and homemade apple pie. He will always be remembered for his kind and generous heart, willingness to help others and an incredible work ethic.

Willie is predeceased by his father and mother, as well as his son, Kenneth. He is survived by his two daughters, Colleen (Francisco) and Kelly; as well as his three grandsons Alexander, Thomas and Dominic; all of Calgary. He is lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A private celebration of his life will be held in Calgary on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He will return to his beloved Regina to be laid to final rest.

If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Emergency Department and Unit 74 of the Rockyview General Hospital. Your dedication and compassion for others is evident in the care that we received. We can not thank you enough.
