The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Percy Lepke can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Lillian Grant (nee Lepke)

Percy was my father. This loss has hit my family hard and I am heartbroken that we didn't have a chance to say goodbye. His grandson Jack just turned 14 and will be accompanying me to his celebration of life on Dec 8 in Calgary. I moved away from Calgary about 30 years ago and have only returned there a handful of times, most recently in 2013 when my mother, Kim, sustained a serious head injury, and then days after then when she passed away. Losing my second parent is no easier. My hope is that I will meet people that knew him well and can share stories. Reading these condolences from others stirs a lot of memories. I remember visiting Fairway Service Garage - I remember the smell of the oil, the dirty overalls and grease under his nails and on his hands. I can't go to a garage today without thinking of him. I do recall a jelly candy that he used to treat He met my son Jack around 2007 after some years of disconnection. Anyone who knew him knew technology wasn't his friend so being in another city was challenging. I lived in Vancouver for decades and tried very hard to ensure he had a connection with Jack. We will look forward meeting his friends, paying our respects and saying goodbye. It takes time to heal after losing a part of where you come from. I look forward to starting that process with my son.
