October 12th, 1956 - November 8th, 2017

Barry Johnston passed away peacefully after a brave fight with cancer, with his wife Margaret and nephew Chris by his side, on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 at the age of 61. Barry was predeceased by his father George Johnston; son-in-law Mike Wintemute; best friend Mike Wilson; brother Scott Johnston; niece Jennifer Hamilton; and brother-in-law George Abel. He is survived by his mother Ruby Johnston; wife Margaret Johnston; daughter Margaret Wintemute; grandchildren Colby Wintemute, Breanne Wintemute, Doug Ouellette and Shelby Wintemute; great-grandchildren Lexi Ouellette and Lucas Ouellette; sisters Sharon Hamilton-Marsh, Penny Abel and Susan Welch; brothers James (Delena) Johnston, Gordon (Marianne) Johnston, Lance (Debra) Johnston and Terry Johnston; as well as numerous very loved nieces and nephews and their families and many close friends.

An informal gathering to celebrate Barry’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion - Chapelhow Branch 284 (606 38 Ave NE) on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

Many thanks to the caring staff at the South Health Campus and the Tom Baker Centre, especially Dr. D. Hao and the palliative care doctors and nurses.
