Obituary for Edward Allen Tibble

Edward Allen Tibble
Edward (Ted) Allen Tibble
May 1, 1942 - October 27, 2017

Ted Tibble, beloved husband of Betty Tibble, passed away October 27, 2017 at the age of 75 years.

Ted lived a fulfilled and accomplished life. He was born and raised in Swan River, Manitoba. He was an Open Pit Shift Boss for Cominco in Elkford, BC, and worked in the propane industry for 21 years as a Master Gas Fitter. He finished his career as Branch Manager in Golden, BC. Ted was employed by City Wide Services after retiring, with a larger part of his work being done for Burnco. Beyond his professional accomplishments, his greatest achievement and pride was found within his cherished marriage of 52 years and his family. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and incredible work ethic. Ted leaves behind his legacy of always being a humble man of his word, and most importantly, his unconditional love for Betty. Ted was an incredibly strong and brave man, especially during these last few years. Ted enjoyed dancing, karaoke, reading western books and the morning paper, doing crossword puzzles, and scratching lottery tickets. He was an avid hockey fan, and was always cheering for his Calgary Flames and any team that would beat the Oilers. He also enjoyed the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and watching football. In his younger years he loved playing hockey, and would spend hours on the farm with the animals.

Ted is predeceased by his parents Frank and Nellie Tibble and his sister Lenore Armstrong. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Along with his loving wife Betty, he is survived by his children Kathryn (John) Chong, Brent Tibble, Tracey (Ryan) Monette, and Dayna (PJ) Stone. Ted was greatly loved by his 10 grandchildren Ryan, Jonathan, Jennifer, Nathan, Jordan, Austin, Dylan, Cole, Ashton, and Kade, along with his great granddaughter Rylynne. He is also survived by his siblings Bob (Melba), Irene, and Gwen (Dave). Ted leaves behind fond memories of fun times with his family of brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces, and closest friends.

The family of Ted Tibble would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Dr. Kevin Stafford and his staff, Louie (home care provider), and palliative and home care nurses. We are so very grateful for the care and compassion that was given to Ted by the staff of Carewest Sarcee Hospice, who ensured his comfort and dignity in his final hours of life.

If you asked Ted what his words to live by would be, he would most likely say:
“Love your spouse like there is no other. Spend time with your children, as they grow up so fast. Always be humble and kind. Love is simple… the best gift you can give is your time. Cheer for the Flames as they are the best, have a sip of Weisers, don’t forget to check your lottery tickets and make sure you learn the words to “Don’t Cry Joni”. That’s what Ted would wish for you.”

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Deer Park United Church (77 Deerpoint Road SE, Calgary, Alberta). A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, if you would like a make a donation in honor of Ted’s life, they can be directed to the Sarcee Carewest Hospice.
