Obituary for Lorraine Christine Agnes Krippl (Stevenson)

Lorraine Christine Agnes Krippl (Stevenson)
Lorraine Krippl (Stevenson)
March 25th, 1947 - Sunday, October 22nd, 2017

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Lorraine Krippl. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. She is predeceased by her husband Ludwig, and is survived by her brother James and two sons Jeff (Marla Gal) and Jason (Sheila), five grandchildren Katherine, Crystal, Evrett, Brittney, and Emersen, and two great-granddaughters Emma and Amelia.

Lorraine was born and raised in Calgary by her parents James and Irene Stevenson. She grew up in the community of Glenbrook where she met Ludwig, the love of her life. They married on July 16, 1966. Lorraine and Ludwig were happily married for 37 years before his passing in September of 2004.

After the passing of her husband, Lorraine’s true independence came out. She sold the family home in Southwood and moved to Braeside where she renovated her new home. After a few years she decided she needed to move in to somewhere that would be easier for her to maintain. This is when she moved to the villa in Millrise, a condo where she met her goal of no longer needing to do outside maintenance. Again she decided to renovate most of the condo to make it her own. Lorraine was planning another move when she was diagnosed with cancer, which put a damper on her last move.

Lorraine worked for the Calgary Board of Education as a food services supervisor. She enjoyed working with students in the tuck shop; teaching them the value of serving others, how to balance cash from the daily sales, and how to properly handle food being served. Working with children and teaching them useful skills for every day was a true passion of hers.

Prayers will be held for Lorraine on Friday, October 27th at 5:30 pm. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 1:00 pm. Both will be held at Oak Park Church of Christ (11263 Oakfield Dr SW). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southwood Hospice (https://www.ahpca.ca/hospices-intercare-southwood-hospice/).
