Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Lefebvre

Mary Elizabeth Lefebvre
Mary Lefebvre
October 7th, 1928 - Monday, October 9th, 2017

Mary Elizabeth Lefebvre (nee Watt) passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, on October 9th, 2017 at age 89 after a long illness. Mary is survived and will be deeply missed by her children Gordon, Glenn (Nicholas Hill), Diane (Mike Boettcher), and Sue (Marty Baxter) and by her grandchildren Michelle, Chris, Clayton and Jocelyn. She was predeceased by her husband Chester Lefebvre.

Mary was born and raised in Olds, Alberta. She was considered the scholar of the family. In her final year at school, she assisted the district teacher, but decided teaching wasn’t for her. She started work as a clerk and book keeper at the local hardware store. In the early 50’s, she transferred to Dawson Creek, BC. Within a couple of years the local dentist talked her into becoming a dental assistant.

It was in Dawson Creek where she met her husband, Chet Lefebvre. They were married on October 30th, 1955 and were together for 49 years. They lived briefly in Moose Jaw, SK, before moving to Calgary, AB, where they spent the rest of their lives.

Mary was a compassionate person and a friend to many. She kept in touch with everyone and always remembered every major event in all our lives. Mary was an avid reader of both books and the newspaper. She loved her crossword puzzles and confidently did them in pen. She was an enthusiastic bowler and bridge player. While she didn’t consider herself an athlete, she was an active supporter of her family’s interests and enjoyed cheering for the underdogs in professional sports.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday October 21st, 2017 fron 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to dcboettcher@outlook.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Salvation Army or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
