Obituary for Len Bridger

Len Bridger
Bridger, Len
March 6th, 1938 - September 17th, 2017

Charles (LEN) Bridger is the eldest son of Leonard and Iva Bridger, born on March 6, 1938 in Dodsland, Saskatchewan. He passed suddenly at home in Calgary, Alberta on September 17, 2017.

A loving husband to Marie for 59 years and devoted father to Ron of Fort McMurray, AB; Gregory (Pamela) of High River, AB and Cindy (Doug) Rausch of Bearspaw, AB. Beloved father-in-law to Beverly, Adele and Susan. He is also survived by his brother, David (Barbara) of Meadow Lake, SK. Cherished by his grandchildren: Richard (Jennifer) of Calgary, AB; Lesley (Jody) of Kimberley, BC; David of Calgary, AB; Tom of Calgary, AB; Robert (Jennifer) of Fort McMurray; Ryan (Mandi) of Vancouver, BC; Evan (Ashlee) of Strathmore, AB; Garrett of Vancouver, BC and Allysha (Kris) of Calgary, AB as well as his great-grandchildren: Kenlee, Lovely, Grayson, Gordie, Rayne, Tessa, and Eve. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces Jacky and Cathy as well as many lifelong friends.

Len was larger than life! He was a successful entrepreneur with a fierce independent streak that allowed him to pursue his dreams to the fullest. He was dedicated to living a life free from constraints to achieve his goals. Len found value in everything, lovingly earning him the title of packrat from his family. He found joy in the fun times spent with Marie hosting dinner parties or fun activities with friends, who took delight in teasing Len when the opportunity allowed. A dedicated grandfather, he was active in kids/grandkids lives. Helping them achieve their goals was important to him. He was known for his less than subtle approach to giving advice whether it was health “tips” or teaching them about finances or the finer points of running a successful business. He cherished time spent with his family, especially at their retreat on the Red Deer River where he taught the grandkids many skills and made sure to reward them for their success by doing things like giving them trophies for “first fish caught”. In recent years, Len spent his free time enjoying family, personal pursuits and coaching his son Greg as he passed on the responsibilities of the family business to him.

His strength, wisdom and generosity heart will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A Celebration of Len's Life will be held at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE) on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta in his memory (www.heartandstroke.ca).
