Grace Ann Jahrig passed away at the Extendicare Hillcrest Care Centre in Calgary on August 24, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Grace was born on May 25, 1929 in Summerland, British Columbia to Gilbert Perceval and Rose Ellen Thomas. She was married to Gordon Jahrig until the mid-70’s, and then was partners with Edward Belair until 2006.

Grace worked part time at Eaton’s Downtown Calgary until she retired. Grace enjoyed curling and the outdoors. She also had a love for all animals, and was especially close to her Budgie, Tea.

Grace is survived by her children Dan (Heather) Jahrig and Jason (Jessica) Jahrig; grandchildren Katelyn (Matthew) Owumi and Missy Jahrig; great grandson Caleb Owumi; brother Gilbert (Lea) Thomas; nephews Jim Thomas, Lorne Thomas, Don Thomas, Gordon (Cheryl) Thomas, Gilbert Thomas, and George Ress; nieces Fern Thomas and Doreen (Ed) Roesler; great nephews Travis (Jessie) Thomas, Shane Thomas, Chris Thomas, Edward (Shar) Roesler, and Jeff (Jackie) Ress; great nieces Chantal Thomas, Jennifer (Jason) Ress and Angela (Kelly) Ginnis; great-great nieces Ava, Elizabeth Olivia and Mikayla Thomas, Shayley Ress, Chelsea Ginnis, Courtney Roesler and Korvette Ginnis; and great-great nephews Kaden Ginnis and Westley Ress.

Grace was predeceased by her parents Gilbert and Rose Thomas; sister Eileen Holland; Gordon Jahrig; daughter Heather Jahrig; partner Edward Belair; and Niece Wendy Ress. Thank you to all the staff at Hillcrest Extendicare and Choice Memorial for everything you've done! A Celebration of Life for Grace will be held at a later date.

As per the family’s wishes, donations can be made to the Canadian Alzheimers Society.
