Obituary for Dora Kroli (Kunesky)

Dora Kroli (Nee Kunesky)
(November 11, 1918 – July 20, 2017)

Dora Kroli passed away at the Crowsnest Pass Care Center a few months shy of her 99th birthday. She is survived by: her loving children Joanne (James) Atkinson of Comox BC; Eleanor (Orest) Reminsky of Edmonton AB; and Peter (Adele) Kroli of Calgary Alberta; Grand Children: Dawne (Junior) Atkinson; Kristina (Ed) (Reminsky) Mullen; Marek Reminsky; Jeremy (Tracy) Kroli; and Michael (Jilian) Kroli; Great Grandchildren Celina Mullen; and Cassidy Grimes; her sister Katie Kumorek of Trail BC; special niece Eileen (Fred) Jones, numerous other nieces and nephews, and close friends who always called her Mom, Auntie, or Baba. Dora was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1994; her parents Ivan and Mary Kunesky; her siblings John Andreaschuk, Annie (Andreaschuk) Leluk, Nick Andreachuk, Jake Andreaschuk and Danny Kunesky.

Dora was born in Hillcrest and spent virtually her entire life in the Crowsnest Pass. The Krolis were very active in the Crowsnest Pass communities giving their time freely at any community event that required volunteer service. She was a founding member of the Blairmore Order of the Royal Purple and was the first Honored Royal Lady of the Blairmore Lodge, thus given the title of “Supreme Honored Royal Lady”. Dora worked for Sears Canada in their catalogue office in Blairmore for 25+ years, She was an avid sports enthusiast who, in her younger days, played basketball, and baseball. She excelled at golf and curling and won a zillion trophies, medals and awards over her lifetime. Dora was an excellent cook who was renowned for her homemade bread, perogies, and cabbage rolls. She was also an avid gardener who enjoyed many hours working in both her vegetable and flower gardens.

At Dora’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Crowsnest Pass Historical Society at the Crowsnest Pass museum PO Box 306 Coleman AB, in her memory. Her family wishes to thank all those who participated in her care during her final years - all care givers, kitchen staff and servers at the York Creek Lodge, and all medical staff at the Crowsnest Pass Care Center.
