Obituary for Damon Scott Bodnar

On Sunday, May14, 2017 we lost our beloved son Damon. For many years Damon fought with the demons of mental illness and addictions. He is now free of his pain and haunted dreams. He will live forever in the hearts and memories of all who knew and cherished him.

Damon left behind his beautiful son, Devon, mother of his son and the love of his life, Dawn, and Dawn's parents, Colleen and Ralph Bennett and their extended family.

Damon Scott Bodnar was our middle child, born April 15,1977 to his Dad, Donald and myself. A big part of both of us- our quirks, our imperfections, our DNA and our love for each other- went into creating the unique individual Damon was. Damon is also survived by his siblings- Bryce , his life partner Claudette, their children Cody and fiancé Mishayla, Branden,Cassandra and Shayla and her son Daxton; by Tristan and Jessica and their children, Caiden, Olivia, Tamsyn and Alexys; His only Sister, closest friend and defender,Vanessa, her life partner Jeremy and their daughter Enya; and by his youngest brother Logan.

Damon was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Eva Hughes and John and Christine Bodnar, his niece Caitlyn Bodnar, and numerous family members.

Damon is survived by many loving Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and countless acquaintances and coworkers from across BC and Alberta.

Our family chain is broken forever.

Damon had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever known and will be remembered, by all who knew him, as the smart, kind, loving, funny and hard working person he was. He had an illness you couldn't see. Inside was the real Damon and the Damon we will remember.

Damon -We will see you in the morning sun, the afternoon heat, and in the evening mist but mostly in the myriad of stars in the dark night. After many years of living amongst houses and skyscrapers lining the city skies, Damon came home to live with us for a short period. He loved to go out after dark for his last smoke and gaze at the sky. He remarked to me that he had forgotten how beautiful the endless sky and countless stars were. Damon- we will always know where to find you. All we have to do is look up at night. You are our brightest star. Our love for you is for eternity.

Please feel free to share this as it is impossible for us to contact all who knew Damon. We will be having a Celebration of Life for Damon, Saturday July 29th, location not confirmed yet. All are welcome. If you cannot attend and want to share memories please private message me.
