Obituary for Cherrie Lynn Spencer (Glatiotis)

Cherrie Lynn Spencer (Glatiotis)
Cherrie Lynn (Glatiotis) Spencer

We are saddened to announce that, after a long but courageous battle with cancer, Cherrie passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2017.

Born and raised in Camrose, Alberta, Cherrie lived there until 1997, when she moved to Calgary. While in Camrose, Cherrie worked at Centra Cam for a number of years as their Bookkeeper and Secretary. Upon moving to Calgary, she began working as a Payables Analyst for Northstar Energy, which eventually became part of CNRL. Cherrie made many friends and loved decorating the office for all of the holidays, but especially for her favourite, Halloween.

Cherrie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerry; her father Ken Glatiotis; three daughters Ronei (Dirk) of Naniamo, BC, Paige (Jaimie) of Calgary and Megan (Kerry) of Nelson, BC; as well as her five grandchildren, who were the loves of her life. Cherrie is also survived by her two brothers Kevin and Randy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Irene.

Cherrie’s family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who cared for her and helped her fight the battle over the years. A special thanks to Dr. Walley and Dr. Henning, and to Pam Sweeney, for making Cherrie feel like she was a friend and who were always there with compassion. To the Homecare Palliative Care Team, a very special thank you for your help and guidance as things progressed.

When I’ve come to the end of my journey,
And have traveled my last mile,
Forget, if you can, that I ever frowned,
And remember only my smile.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Ovarian Cancer Canada at www.ovariancanada.org, or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation at www.cancer.ca.
A small Memorial Service will be held for Cherrie in the coming months.
