Obituary for Louise Thiessen

Louise Thiessen
Louise Thiessen
April 21, 1948 – March 22, 2017

Louise is survived by her mother Eileen, her husband John, her son Jason, her daughter-in law Julie, her eldest brother Mel and his children and grandchildren, her second brother Les and his children and grandchildren and her youngest brother Wilf, his wife Gerry, and their children and grandchildren.

Louise is predeceased by her birth father Richard, her step-father Ferdie, her sister-in-law Frances and her sister-in-law Jill.

Louise Johnson was born on April 21, 1948 in Saskatoon to Richard and Eileen. Her family moved to Calgary and she graduated high school at Henry Wisewood School. Louise loved numbers and paperwork so she became a member of the accounting department for many years at Parmalat and Parts Canada. She loved working with her coworkers as she enjoyed talking to them and sharing their joys and sorrows. In her own words, she was a social butterfly. Louise met John Thiessen in 1970, fell in love and married him on April 10, 1971. Less than two years later, Louise gave birth to her son Jason.

Louise was the life of the party and she enjoyed life and people. If you invited her to a games night, there was no doubt that she was coming. She loved games, cards but watch out if you played crokinole or cribbage against her as she was good, she loved to win and she loved to let you know that she won. Louise also enjoyed watching the news and watching sports and talking about current events. She was a giving woman with not only her money but her time as well. Her last night with us here on earth, she volunteered with a community program at the church next door to her own. Louise was an active member of Eastside City Church and she will always be remembered as the lady with a constant and beautiful smile.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at Eastside City Church, 1320 Abbeydale Dr SE, Calgary, Alberta on Sunday April 2, 2017 at 3pm. The family requests all donations be sent to Mennonite Central Committee online and you can follow this link to donate. https://donate.mcccanada.ca/cart/checkout.
