Michael O'Grady of Calgary, AB passed away at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the age of 59. Michael was the youngest son of the late Harold and Mary O'Grady (nee O'Connor) of St. Thomas, ON. He was predeceased by his brother Jim. Michael is survived by his brother David O'Grady of St. Thomas; sisters-in-law Johanna O'Grady of St. Thomas and Mary Jane Coxon of Wroxeter, ON; nephews David (Sarah) O'Grady of Emburn, ON, Patrick O'Grady and fiance Meagan of London, ON; great niece and nephew Olivia and Owen O'Grady. Michael is also survived by the Nino Milic family and the staff of Bearspaw School.

Michael loved history, reading, watching movies, computers, and live theatre - especially Shakespeare. He was good with children and animals. Michael was a hard worker, very critical of his own skills and wanted everything to be perfect. He was not materialistic - if it didn't fit in a suitcase he didn't need it. Michael was always very generous and willing to help others. He was a very private and caring person, but didn't want others to know. Beer was his favourite drink, and one of his dreams was to open a bar on a beach on a Caribbean Island. He loved Southern Ontario claiming it was the most beautiful place in the world, and especially loved the farm he grew up on. In his youth he loved climbing trees and enjoyed performing in theatre in high school.

Michael had many different jobs throughout his lifetime. He worked in tourism and enjoyed teaching English as a second language in China. He worked for GE Canada for many years and for the past seven years, Michael enjoyed his work as a custodian at Bearspaw School.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca/donate) or to a charity of one's choice.
