Obituary for Darlene Ruby Wagner

Darlene Ruby Wagner
Wagner, Darlene
August 11, 1950 Barrhead, AB – April 13 2017 Calgary, AB

Darlene went to be with the Lord on April 13 at just 66 years old. She was in the company of her oldest brother and younger sister.

She is survived by her two children Lisa and Stephen, her Granddaughters Rin, Tara and Haley, as well as her sisters Sharon and Hazel and her brothers Jack and Mal. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Ida Wagner.

Darlene was raised in Edmonton and spent most of the first half of her life there. Notably, she was part of the first class at Harry Ainsley High School and attended the University of Alberta briefly before choosing a different path. Eventually she married Carl. Lisa followed soon after and 3 years later so did Stephen. During those early years she worked tirelessly to raise her children and build a freelance book keeping business.

Her marriage to Carl ended and she struck out on her own. She started a career in property management, eventually managing 6 separate seniors residential facilities for the Greater Edmonton Foundation.

An opportunity to share her faith in God with others led her to leave that role and pursue a traveling missionary role with Stonecroft Ministries which likely helped spark her nascent wanderlust. She left that role and settled (sort of) - 8 houses in 10 years, in Canmore.

After a decade in Canmore, she decided to move to Calgary to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters.

We all miss her dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Glamorgan Church of God (4715 45 St SW, Calgary, AB)
